Rules and Terms of Use
By registering for or using the JWU CyberPaw CTF, you agree to these rules. Breaking them can get you disqualified and may be reported to Johnson & Wales University.
1. Only attack what we give you
- You may only test the challenges on this site and the challenge servers linked from them.
- Do not attack this website itself, the scoreboard, the login system, or any server that is not a challenge. Finding a bug in the platform? Report it to the organizers instead. Responsible reports are appreciated.
- Do not attack other players, their accounts or their computers.
- Never use what you learn here against systems you don't own or have permission to test. Unauthorized access to computer systems is illegal under the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and state law, and violates JWU policy.
2. Play fair
- One account per person. Accounts are for JWU students and staff (
@jwu.eduor@wildcats.jwu.edu). - Do not share flags, solutions or hints with other players while the competition is running.
- No brute-forcing flags. Submitting large numbers of guesses or automating flag submissions is not allowed and is rate limited.
- No denial of service. Do not flood, crash or overload any server, including challenge servers.
- No automated scanners against the platform. Scanning a challenge is fine only when the challenge asks for it.
- No referral abuse Referrals are meant to bring real players into the challenge. If you refer people who have no intention of playing and only do it to earn points, we will remove their accounts and take away your points.
3. Be a good wildcat
- Usernames and anything else you post must follow the JWU Student Code of Conduct.
- Be respectful to other players and the organizers.
4. Monitoring and data
- Activity on this site, including flag submissions and connection information, is logged to run the competition and to enforce these rules.
- See the Privacy Notice for what we collect and how it's used.
5. Organizer decisions
- The organizers may change scores, fix or remove challenges, and update these rules if needed.
- Organizer decisions on scoring and disqualification are final.
